🔵 Nuclear pore complex
easymode segment npc
Unlike most species models, the npc (nuclear pore complex) model operates at 20 Å/px, resulting in ~8x faster inference.
Nuclear pore complexes aren't very rare but occur at low copy numbers. We used dataset EMPIAR-11845, consisting of 152 tomograms of FIB-milled D. discoideum cells, for validation of model by subtomogram averaging. This dataset was acquired with a relatively large pixel size and most tomograms contain part of the nuclear envelope, so the data offered a decent number of NPCs for averaging. Some of the tomograms in this dataset were also included in the training data for this model, so there is a degree of contamination between training and validation in this case; we will repeat validation on a separate dataset later.
